Sign Language.
A method of communication that uses hand movements and other gestures, rather than sounds and letters. Expressions are just as important as the gestures. They build upon the meaning of the gestures to convey more information than the gestures could alone.
Benefits
  1. Communication with the deaf community is made possible.
  2. Being able to serve the deaf community may also increase your business.
  3. Approximately 22 out of every 1000 persons is deaf or hearing impaired. Teaching sign language can decrease frustration between two people with communication barriers e.g. deafness or dumbness. Hence a bond between them is tightened .The possibilities are endless when you increase your means of communication.
  4. Sign Language can improve reading scores.
  5. Sign Language has many benefits beyond improving communication between caregivers and pre-verbal children. For example, a recent study showed that reading scores can be improved as a result of introducing Sign Language to school children. This particular study compared two different classrooms of school children, one in which the children learned Sign Language and the other, which did not. Over a period of time, the reading scores of the children who were exposed to Sign Language had improved by a much greater degree than those who had not been exposed to Sign.
  6. Sign Language may help build and reinforce creativity.
  7. Sign Language exercises different parts of the brain than verbal language. It therefore stands to reason that Sign Language can act as a stimulant to help build and reinforce creativity.
